Six-year-old Barmera girl Jessica Taylor was determined to be brave about her rare illness, scleroderma.

"She would make (mum) Hayley leave the room and sit in the waiting room while she had her needles because she was trying to be a brave little, or big, grown up girl," family friend Heather Wynands said.

"Looking at her you never thought she was in pain, but I suspect she must have been."

The bright schoolgirl passed away suddenly on June 16 from complications associated with the illness.

Devastated friends, family and complete strangers have rallied behind Jessica's parents, Hayley and Grant, twin brother Luke and older sister Aleesha, to organise a support and fundraising night at the local football club this weekend.
