Are you tired of wasting your time on drugs and alcohol? Do you think you could raise the quality of life if you were more focused on your interests? Research shows that treatment works, so find a treatment center for new beginnings.
Call your insurance company and tell them that you want treatment for your problem.
If you live with your parents and are without insurance, tell them your problem and that you want treatment for it.
If you are without parental guidance and insurance, call your local hospital and tell them what drug you want treatment for. For example, if you want methadone treatment for heroin addiction, tell them.
If they can help you, discuss payment options (insurance, welfare, sliding scale or credit).
If this goes well, then both of you will determine if you require inpatient or outpatient treatment and an admittance date.
If the hospital cannot help you, ask them if they know who can. Usually there will be a social worker available, or someone there who deals with such situations.
If that doesn't work, call 1-800-Life-Net in NYC for substance abuse treatment referral. Usually, they will ask you for your treatment needs, insurance and zip code and they will provide you with 3 referrals.
If this does not work, contact your local police station and ask for help. If you are using illegal drugs, you do not have to identify yourself.
