Get a MySpace Account without Your Parents Knowing
From Tips and Steps
Myspace is so popular these days, and a good fraction of the social scene takes place on there. That's why so many scenesters are obsessed with it! C'mon, go make one! What's keeping you?!!--uh oh, PARENTS!!! Many parents worry about their children giving away personal information or being stalked on the Internet, often with good reason--after all, homes have been cleaned out by thieves due to information children have foolishly given away, and children have been killed by myspace stalkers, too. But if you feel that you must have a MySpace page, be sneaky.
Before you get a secret Myspace account because your parents prohibit you using it, try talking to your parents. Ask them about their concerns and try to make compromises as, for example, not using your real (last) name, city, age and/or any pictures of yourself.
Your parents are probably just trying to keep you safe, if all else fails, follow this guide but always be careful.
Make sure you close, or slightly shut, the door of the room you're using. If you have a computer in your room, make sure it can't be seen when you first walk in. Get a bead curtain if it's your room, a loud one. They might imagine, rightfully, that you could get yourself into to some trouble.
Don't keep the volume too loud on your speakers. Myspace is great for music and videos. Don't use headphones, you may not hear your parents entering the room and then get caught.
Download a copy of "Matrix Locker" - this is programme similar to a screensaver which shows the "The Matrix" code but you can set a separate password from your user password.
Make sure you have fair reflexes. If you don't, then practice. You must know how to type fast, and click fast.
Don't forget to delete myspace from your browsing history.
Make sure to use a browser with tabbed browsing, so if and when your parents come in, you can switch to another tab, and it will say you are on that site and not Myspace. Make sure to use something innocent like "Google", "MSN", "Weather.com", or a news page. If you liked "neopets.com" when you were younger, say you still think it is fun and use that, but avoid this if you used to say 'Neopets sucks!' because that would arouse suspicion.
if your parents know your email address make new one just for your myspace page(keep it simple)
Go to MySpace.com and make a Myspace page. Choose a plain, simple, and most importantly correctly spelled URL name. Avoid words like "heart," gurl/boi," "xoxo," "roxxer" or similar, as they are extremely lame and make you look childish, aside from the fact that you will later regret choosing such a stupid URL name. Preferably, you should exclude your name in one form or another. Avoid using your full name like "Melissa Bourne" for your MySpace name as it's easier to find you and your MySpace.
Now that you've created your profile, get a picture, background, etc. Also add as many of your friends as possible. Try searching for them, or call them up and ask for their Myspaces. You don't have to ask every single one of your friends, since your friends will most likely be linked together.
Ask your friends not to tell your parents that you have a Myspace, but friends can be airheads sometimes, and forget. So just make up a clever excuse you can use.
When you're talking to friends, try using an abbreviation for Myspace, such as "MS" or "The Space". If your parents overhear (which they could), they will find out.
Have fun being a Myspacer.
Don't post your photo. If you do, your parents might search MySpace for your name and find your account. Unless you decide to be sneaky and use a false name such as Jane Doe for other protection purposes as well.
If it's not your own computer and you're using Mozilla Firefox, after each visit on Myspace, delete all History and cookies. If your using IE7 you have the ability to delete specific sites and days from your history. just click that star that stands for favorites in the left hand corner and on the far right at the top of the drop down box there is a button labeled history open the day that you want to delete sites from. right click on the site and chose delete. when your done be sure to empty out the recycle bin too. If you have Google Chrome, you can simply use an Incognito Window and it will not show up in your history at all.
Keep your friends close. Some people sink so low that they rat you out if you get in a fight with them. Try not to have any myspace-wars. Because the hurt kids will tell their parents who made fun of them, and those parents will tell your parents, and that would be a problem.
The more friends you have, the more your Myspace is talked about, the more likely it will get back to your siblings or parents. If you have a sibling who goes to the same school as you, then try and tell people to keep it on the down-low.
It's best that you use MySpace at a friend's house, but don't get too crazy or your parents might figure out that you are doing something sneaky. About once everyone 2-5 days is good.
Don't become myspace-crazy. Just update your profile every week, and change songs every 1.5-2 weeks.
Do not have pictures that are too sexually arousing or something like that.Your parents will be even MORE mad if they found out you not only have a myspace but you post pictures of you in thongs kneeling over your bed.
You could, however, post pictures of what you like to do. If you like to read, post pictures of the books you're reading. If you do ballet, find pictures of ballet slippers. This is a great way to show people who you are without showing your face.
If your parents are using the same computer you are then a good idea is to not let it remember your password. If it does and your parents just look at the main page of the site they will be able to log into your account or at the very least see your email.
You should also use an email your parents don't know about (Ex. Aim account email)
Using MySpace without your parents knowing can result in you being found out and getting grounded and losing your computer access. It can also destroy the amount of trust they have for you. Before doing this, make sure that you think about if this is the right thing to do.
If you put any picture on MySpace you can become bait for sex offenders and pedophiles. As said above, pictures are a very bad idea.
Do not have a Myspace relationship. It is very dangerous, because you have no idea about the people that you are talking to. Stick to real social activities, and find a real person that you like.
Do not get siblings involved. They will turn you in. Or worse, blackmail you into doing things.
Never use Myspace at school or at the library. At most schools, it's forbidden and you might lose your computer privileges and/or have to serve detention. If people find out you've been using it, they will contact your parents and you will get in trouble.
Make sure your friends don't tell their parents you have a Myspace. Parents tell other parents everything! Best way to avoid this is not to let your friends know you have a Myspace account. If they don't know, they can't tell.
If you have Mozilla Firefox, arm yourself with the latest extensions. A good one is Distrust, Page title eraser, Ghostfox, stealther and Hidebad. These are a covert browser's best friend.
Don't download the MySpace instant messenger if you want to hide the fact that you have a myspace account.
People who hang out at myspace include nice people like you and a lot of crazies. So don't give out any personal information to anyone.
Use caution when deleting history, as your parents could get suspicious! Only delete the links that involve myspace!
Also, if you add friends from your school/mates around, tell them not to say anything about your myspace page around your parents!
