RAM (Random Access Memory) is the component inside your computer that handles the applications, games, music etc. that runs on your computer when switched on. The more RAM you have, the easier your computer will handle a lot of applications being run at a time. In this article i will tell you how to to purchase the right RAM for your computer.
Steps
- Determine RAM type. You need to know which type of RAM you need. The RAM that you are buying needs to be compatible with the RAM already in your computer. There are several programmes which you can download free of charge to tell you which RAM you have e.g. CPU-Z. This programme will also tell you how much RAM you currently have.
- Shop around to find the least expensive RAM. Once you know which RAM you need, its just a case of shopping around on different websites or at your local shops to find the cheapest available.
- Install the newly purchased RAM. When you have the RAM unpackaged and ready to install, just open up your computer tower and slot the RAM in. Your computer should automatically recognise the RAM is installed and run faster.
