Gambling is one of the most dangerous things for teenagers. It can be just as dangerous as drug addictions. Here is how you can tell if your teen has a gambling problem and interviene before it is too late.

Steps

  1. Your teen sells valuable belongings.
  2. Your teen is into debts or has large amounts of money.
  3. Your teen receives calls from total strangers.
  4. Your teen makes calls to "900" gambling numbers.
  5. Your teen is frequently absent from school, work, or home.
  6. Your teen gets erratic, distracted, worried or depressed.
  7. Your teen withdraws from social and extracurricular activites.
  8. Your teen has a large credit card bill.

Tips

  • If your teen asks you for money, ask him or her what it would be used for.
  • If you are sure your teen is gambling, take away some of his/her privileges to teach them a lesson.

Warnings

  • If your see these signs of gambling, get help immediately!
  • On the other hand, if your teen is incredibly lucky, a little encouragement is great!
